그리스 '파로스섬'에서...스페셜 올림픽 호스트 타운 프로그램...

2011년 스페셜올림픽 특별행사인 호스트 타운 프로그램에 참석하기 위해 아테네에 도착하자마자 '파로스섬'으로 페리를 타고 떠난 한국 선수단... 6월 20일부터 24일까지 지중해의 푸르름과 그리스 전통 문화를 추억에 담아왔습니다.                                                                         Host Town Program –  Polis Amphitrion

문화를 체험하고 사전 적응하는 프로그램 호스트타운 (Host Town Program)은 스페셜올림픽 대회에 참가하는 대표단이 세계대회가 열리기 전에 미리 개최국을 방문하여 현지 지역사회에 머물며 문화교류에도 참가해 현지 전통 문화를 체험하고, 경기 전 기후 등에 적응하며 훈련할 수 있도록 도와주는 프로그램입니다 주요 프로그램 방문 대표단에게 지역 사회 소개 선수들에게 경기참가 전 훈련기회 제공 문화·음식 전통체험 지역사회 청소년(학교)와의 교류활동 휴식, 가정방문 등   2011년 6월 20일부터 24일까지 그리스 전역의 13개 지역 호스트 타운에서 스페셜올림픽이 열리기 전 나흘 동안  10,000여 명의 선수와 스텝들이 그리스 민속 문화와 예술, 그리고 그리스 전통요리를 즐기며 훈훈한 정을 나누고 현지인들에게는 장애를 가진 사람과 더불어 살기를 체험시키는 프로그램입니다. 180국에서 온 대표선수단들과 함께 하면서 발달장애인들이 지닌 능력과 기술을 보게 하여 그들도 사회에서 생산적으로 참여할 수 있고 존중받는 사회의 일원으로 살 수 있다는 것을 깨닫게 하는 멋진 기회입니다.     The Host Town Program is a special event of the Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011. Delegations from around the world will be hosted for four days throughout the 13 regions of Greece  prior to their arrival in Athens for the Games. Through a series of sporting, cultural and artistic events, Special Olympics athletes will have the opportunity to adapt to a new environment, to experience the Greek culture, to enjoy the natural beauty and traditional cuisine, as well as train before the Games. At the same time, Greek citizens of each region will have the opportunity to coexist interactively with the international delegations which will participate in the Games, and as a result, they will learn more about people with intellectual disabilities, their skills and their abilities,  with a view to become productive and respected members of the society. The Host Town program will be implemented during June 20-24, 2011. Nearly 10.000 athletes, coaches and Heads of Delegates of the Special Olympics National Program, from more than 180 countries around the globe, will be hosted in towns and islands across the country, so that, leaving Greece, their luggage will be full of the virtues for which our country is famous; service, politeness, kindness and warm hospitality. So far, more than 30 cities and islands have expressed their interest to participate to the program while the Local Committees which will organize hospitality in every city are already established.
