[스크랩] Englishman In New York - 새바 & 의정부시립합창단

이 곡은 우리나라에도 잘 알려진 Sting의 대표작인 이 곡은 1987년에 발표한 앨범 ‘Nothing Like The Sun’에 수록된 곡이다. 이 앨범은 Sting이 그룹 Police에서 솔로로 독립하여 제작한 두 번째 앨범으로 향후 Sting의 음악적 방향을 제시하는 중요한 앨범으로 평가받고 있는데 보다 사회성이 짙어지고 재즈적 요소가 더 강해지며 음악적으로 완벽을 기한 흔적을 발견할 수 있는데 이 노래 역시 이 같은 경향을 고스란히 담고 있다.   Sting Quentin Crips 이 노래 속에 등장하는 영국인은 Quentin Crips 라는 영국의 작가이자 배우로 알려져 있다. 그는 1970년대 게이 아이콘이 된 인물로 70이 넘어서 뉴욕으로 이주했다. 1986년 그의 아파트를 방문한 Sting은 그로 부터 동성애를 혐오하는 영국에서의 삶에 대해 듣게 되었고 그 경험이 Englishman in New York 이라는 곡을 탄생하게 만들었다고 한다.  이 녹음은 원래 새바가 기악곡으로 편곡하여 연주해 오던 버젼 위에 2007년 의정부시립합창단과의 협연을 위해 합창 편곡을 더해 만들어진 형태이다.     I don't drink coffee, I take tea my dear. F5 키를 눌러 페이지를 '새로고침'한다.
